Guitarist, songwriter, and lead singer Alex Radeff formed the first incarnation of the Canadian rock group Donkey in 1993. Other members have come and gone, including drummer Jim Clark, bassist Abbu Agard, keyboardist Craig Belanger, and bassist Peter Skelton. The band released three albums during the '90s. Two of its most popular songs from those albums are "Wartime" and "Falling Into You."
Donkey recorded and independently released its first album, Legwork, in 1993. A couple of the tunes from that debut were impressive enough that the "powers that be" from Polygram Records included them in a compilation album filled with work by Canadian artists. In between touring, Donkey made a few music videos that found some airtime on MuchMusic. In 1995, the group went back into the studio to complete a sophomore offering, Heavy Light Ears.
