Save Lives and Feed Families this Thanksgiving by Donating Blood on November 22
Annual “Thanks for Giving” Blood Drive Being Held at
Catholic War Veterans in Bayonne
BAYONNE, NEW JERSEY – Friday, November 14, 2008 – Donating blood is one the most generous gifts an individual can give, especially during the holiday season. Each donation has the potential to give a second chance to an accident victim, a new beginning for a cancer patient or a better tomorrow for a child with sickle cell disease.
This holiday season, there is even more incentive to save a life through blood donations. For every unit of blood collected on November 22, the American Red Cross will provide a Thanksgiving turkey to a family in need as part of its “Thanks for Giving” blood drive.
This year’s “Thanks for Giving” blood drive will be held at the Catholic War Veterans Post 1612, 18 West 23rd Street in Bayonne, from 8:30am – 2:30pm.
The goal of this annual event is to build the blood supply for the Thanksgiving weekend while helping families in need celebrate the holiday. These blood drives are organized by the American Red Cross Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region, headquartered in Philadelphia. Blood drive sponsors from local communities such as the Catholic War Veterans in Bayonne, graciously hold these events at locations across New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania to support this cause.
If you are 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds, you can donate blood. Please join us November 22 to save lives and feed families this Thanksgiving. To make an appointment please call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit www.pleasegiveblood.org to find a blood drive near you.
